Overdraft Protection

Accidents happen, and it’s nice to know your accounts are covered. With overdraft protection, you can link your checking account to a secondary transaction account (savings or checking) OR a pre-approved line of credit to cover overdrafts on your checking account. If you opt in to overdraft protection, it will automatically transfer funds from your designated account to cover overdrafts, provided matching funds are available in the secondary account. A fee of $2.00 per transfer will be assessed.

Courtesy Pay

Members at least 18 years of age with our free checking account may qualify for courtesy pay. If you opt in to courtesy pay, Western Sun may cover your overdrawn transactions, up to $1,000, for a fee of $25 per transaction. This is not a loan, and it does not cost anything unless you use it. Items that surpass the courtesy pay limit of $1,000 will be assessed a $25 insufficient fund fee for each item and returned as NSF.

In order to qualify for courtesy pay, you must have had your checking account for at least 90 days and the account must be in good standing. You will be given the choice to opt in or opt out of courtesy pay when opening your checking account. If you opt out of courtesy pay, any future overdrawn items will be returned unpaid and a $25 NSF fee will be assessed, unless you are opted in to overdraft protection.

Courtesy Pay is not available for Fresh Start Checking or Teen Checking.
